Fantasy Island vs. The Most Dangerous Game

In the TV series Fantasy Island Paul Henley comes to visit and live out his fantasy of being hunted. The people hunting him had been hurt by him in some way in his life. Paul doesn't remember what he did to any of them though. The story line of Paul Henley's hunt was a little bit confusing at times, because there were 2 other stories happening all in the same episode. You had to really contentrate and remember what has happened before they switched stories.

Fantasy Island and "The Most Dangerous Game" are alike in many ways. One way they were alike was that in both cases humans were hunting other humans. In the show Paul was being hunted by various people and in the story Rainsford was being hunted by General Zaroff. Another similarity is that both Rainsord and Paul enjoyed to hunt, and they did it alot. Another way the stories are the same is that Paul and Rainsford, the hunted, both ended up "winning" the game. Neither of them got killed and were set free.

Fantasy Island and "The Most Dangerous Game" are also different in many ways. One key difference between them is that Paul wanted to be hunted, but Rainsford did not. Paul had the choice to say yes or no, but Rainsford had to either be hunted get beaten. Another difference between the story lines is that Paul was accompanied by someone on the first phase of his hunt, but Rainsford was all alone the entire time. Another big difference is that Paul's hunt was broken up into 3 phases, and there were certain limitations. In Rainsford's hunt there were no rules and it continued on at all times, even during the night.

  1. You did a very good job of finding and listing the similarities and differences in the two stories. You explained why you thought each, and it was clear and easy to understand. Good job!
