Inherent Goodness.

I believe that people are not inherently good or bad, because it is something that comes through influence. It's something you learn from.

For example, in the novel, when they got on on the island they had to kill in order to survive. If they didn't have to survive then they wouldn't have the need kill.

Another example is, when Simon dies. The tribe was so into their chanting they didn't mean to kill him.

In a real life example, as I said before to be good or bad it has to be learned. Babies/children they do things bad and may not know it or on accident. Then usually the parents correct them and if they continue to do it then they'll keep being corrected. Eventually they realize it's wrong and they stop doing whatever that is wrong.
